Seek the optimum sustained yield from herbivores and trees rather than a utopian sylvocyngetic balance. Use indicators as a guide rather than questionable population counts. Maintain healthy roe deer populations in a regenerating forest. As far as deer are concerned, they should be preserved in moderate doses to prevent damage.
