Wood and forest weekend

Filière Bois Wallonie is actively preparing the next Wood and Forest Weekend, to be held on 13, 14 and 15 October. A host of activities will be on offer across Wallonia. The SRFB is taking part in this event and is offering two forest walks as part of its Forest Friends programme.

Do you love the soft warmth of wooden furniture in your home? And what if that furniture was made from Ardennes oak, wouldn't that be just the thing? It's perfectly possible, and Eric, a forestry guide from the SRFB, invites you to discover the tree's journey from the sustainably managed forest where it comes from to a local, family-run sawmill that promotes short supply chains (Leplang Bois - Plan chêne).

From its role in terms of biodiversity, through its economic and cultural functions, to its impact on human health, the history of the forest has always gone hand in hand with that of mankind. This walk invites you to rediscover all these facets, in a partially ancient forest, under the guidance of Thierry, an enthusiastic and fascinating SRFB forestry guide.
