Objectives

Our forests are subject to various health and climate crises. Spruce bark beetle, ember scale disease, beech and pedunculate oak dieback are all threats to our woods, forcing us to review our management choices and our choice of species. After a day devoted to mixed forestry with continuous cover, we propose a day devoted to assisted migration and the introduction of new species. These two approaches, which we will distinguish, aim to increase the diversity of species and provenances and thus gradually improve the resilience of forests in the face of all kinds of aggression.

In the morning, we will visit the trial plots of the Trees for Future project, which aims to evaluate various new species in terms of their growth, health status and resistance to various hazards, and will present the initial results of this project. In the afternoon, we will talk about assisted migration and visit various plots where this has been implemented in the form of enrichment planting.
