What species should I plant in my woods?
Le 25 September 2024 - Assesse
Objectives
«What species should be planted or encouraged in the natural regeneration of my woodland? This is the question that preoccupies most foresters, especially in recent years with the health and climate crises that have shaken certainties and greatly redistributed the cards. Various online tools exist to help forest owners and managers make the right choices. If used properly, the ecological tree species database is certainly the most useful of these.
During the course, after a brief theoretical introduction, we will review the various tools available and explain the functions of the ecological species database during an in-class demonstration. We will then carry out practical station analysis exercises in the field, during which you will learn how to create and interpret a soil profile, use the indicator flora and enter the parameters measured in the field into the ecological file to refine your diagnosis and your choice of tree species.
