We'll take you on a journey of discovery through the tree, from its growth in a sustainable forest to the handcrafted, local piece of furniture. 

We'll start with a walk through a magnificent mosaic forest, both old and young, on the heights of Alle-sur-Semois. We'll discover the wealth of different sustainably-managed (FSC) woods and learn the basics of forestry science. 

Then, during a guided tour led by the owner Bruno and his colleague Sandro, we'll share the expertise of one of the last industrial sawmills in Wallonia. It's a local, family-run business that promotes short circuits and our Ardennes oak trees (Leplang Bois - Plan chêne). 

Clothing and footwear suited to the forest and the weather. Children welcome. A 3.5 km walk. PRMs can enjoy a walk around the chalet and the ponds. Discreet dogs on leads permitted.

Please note that you will need a car to get from one venue to another. A few car-sharing places are available. Contact the guide beforehand! 

The Société Royale Forestière de Belgique (SRFB) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the forest and foresters. Its Forest Friends projects are aimed at the general public who want to understand the forest environment. The SRFB's volunteer Forest Guides will help you discover the forest as a source of life, in close contact with mankind. This activity is part of the Weekend du Bois.
