Since 2011, the SRFB has been offering organisations the opportunity to contribute to a project to restore our Belgian forests.
For several years now, our forests have been suffering from unprecedented health crises (spruce bark beetles, ash chalarosis, oak dieback, ....). Our trees, weakened by successive droughts, are no longer as resistant to biotic and abiotic attacks, and numerous diebacks are occurring.
In 2011, SRFB decided to develop a fund to support reforestation through contributions from companies. But the speed with which climate change is occurring has prompted us in 2018 to develop a new research project called " Trees for Future ". This innovative scientific project aims to determine which forest species will be more resilient and better adapted to tomorrow's climate. Carried out in collaboration with scientists and universities, we believe this project is crucial to the long-term future of our forests.
That's why, since 2020, any organisation wishing to contribute to the planting of trees will also be contributing to the Trees for Future project.
SRFB, with over 125 years' experience and close links with foresters, coordinates responsible forest planting.
To better meet the expectations of companies and citizens who want to support the reforestation of our forests, since 2020 we have developed a partnership with PlantC.
The SRFB would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all the organisations and companies that are contributing to the reforestation of our Belgian forests. While we cannot vouch for their environmental approach, we can certify the responsible planting of the forests they support.
