Pick and Plant
A NEW TOOL TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE FOREST
As part of action 8 of the Interreg Regiowood II project, the Société Royale Forestière de Belgique (SRFB), in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Natural Resources Development (RND), a forestry game aimed at a diverse audience. The main aim of this awareness-raising tool is to provide a better understanding of the various aspects of forest management through a fun approach.
APPROACH AND STAGES OF CREATION
The aim was to develop an attractive tool to raise awareness of forest issues. To help perpetuate the richness of Wallonia's forests and win the game, you'll need to think strategically and take up a number of challenges.
RND and SRFB were at the helm, overseeing the various creative phases and testing the prototype during its development. Throughout the design process, we were able to count on the creativity and advice of the studio Hoyo (an external service provider based in Namur, selected for their expertise in design and creation). These creative and graphic designers developed the visual identity of the tool and fed our analyses in order to make the game attractive and as fun as possible, while remaining close to the realities on the ground.

OBJECTIVES
Throughout the development of Pioche et Plante, we have pursued the following objectives:
- incorporate the latest forestry knowledge. The information content of the species cards in the game is based on the Ecological tree species register (FEE)1 ;
- Emphasise the multifunctionality of forests, taking into account both criteria relating to wood production and its value-added and criteria relating to the ecological potential of the forest; ;
- make the tool visually appealing and fun by working in particular on the dynamics of the game.
