Visit to a PEFC-certified estate and the Leplang sawmill
Le 04 December 2025 - Vresse-sur-Semois
Objective
As part of the W.A.V.E. project, a one-day field trip is being organised to find out more about PEFC-certified sustainable forest management and wood processing. This immersion will provide an insight into the certification requirements and their implementation, from the forest to the sawmill.
The morning will be devoted to a visit to a certified forest estate, made up of plots of varying ages and species, and rich in biodiversity. Participants will explore the principles of PEFC certification and discover how to produce quality logs that meet the expectations of sawmills.
The afternoon will be spent at the Leplang sawmill. The timber sawn as part of the W.A.V.E. project and its market outlets will be highlighted. As the sawmill is also PEFC certified, the wood processing and traceability requirements will be presented.
The aim of the day is to increase understanding of the sustainable timber industry, by highlighting the links between responsible forest management and certified industrial production.
