Visit the Meerdael forest
Together with the Forêt de Soignes and the Bois de Hal, the Forêt de Meerdael is a remnant of the great Brabant coal forest. It is an ancient forest with a rich forestry and natural heritage. We'll be touring the forest in the company of agents from the Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos, who will be explaining their forest renewal policy, based largely on the control of natural regeneration, supplemented by the introduction of cell-enrichment plantations (klumps). The project for a new Flemish public forest management policy, adapted in particular in response to climate change, will also be presented.

Conference: “Les assises de la forêt, où en sommes-nous, où allons-nous?”
By Jean-François Gosse (Winch).
«In February 2022, the Minister for Forestry, Céline Tellier, in partnership with her administration, SPW ARNE, launched the Forest Conferences with a kick-off conference, the prelude to a phase of consultation and mediation between forestry stakeholders with a view to drawing up a Regional Forestry Programme. The aim of this unprecedented project was to establish, in consultation with representatives of all the stakeholders in the forestry and wood industry, and in a highly collaborative manner, the short, medium and long-term strategic guidelines for a Walloon forest that is both multi-functional and respectful of the ecological functioning of its ecosystem.
The WINCH consultancy firm was chosen to organise and lead this work, which ran from May 2022 to January 2023, and the results of which were announced last March.
In addition to presenting these results, Jean-François Gosse, partner at WINCH, will explain how, using a specific methodological framework, the representatives of 63 stakeholders, including the SRFB, used their collective intelligence to draw up the strategic resolutions that will guide the drafting of the future Regional Forestry Programme, in an inclusive, respectful and consensual manner».»
