Targeted work in SMCC
Targeted work in SMCC
Le 04 July 2023 - Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve
Objectives
The targeted work consists of a series of actions (breaking, girdling, etc.) designed to encourage, in the natural regeneration and at different stages of development, future stems of species of interest growing among more shady and/or more productive species, limiting the investment in time and money and minimising the impact of this work on the rest of the vegetation. This practice is common in continuous cover mixed silviculture (CCMS) but can be considered in other contexts. After a brief theoretical introduction and demonstration, the day will be largely devoted to practical work. We will be working mainly in mixed regenerations of oak, hornbeam, beech, maple, ash, etc.
