Objectives

The mosaic forest is a diversified forest in all its components, in terms of species, silvicultural practices, genetics and micro-habitats.

The mosaic forest is a desirable forest model, but it cannot be achieved in the blink of an eye. A diversification policy needs to be thought through over the long term, must be based on the diversity of soils and sites on the estate and must take account of a whole series of constraints (game, climate, financial constraints, legislation, etc.). The estate we will be visiting during this training course has benefited from such a policy for several decades and we will see how it is applied in the field in an Ardennes context with fairly significant site constraints.
