Hammering and silvicultural work in SMCC - Beginner

The 18 March 2026 - Ottignies-Louvain-La-Neuve

Objective

This training is intended for people who wish to learn the basics of marking in a stand, and the adapted silvicultural work in natural regeneration with regard to the principles of mixed continuous cover forestry (MCCF).

It will notably help landowners apply this closer-to-nature silviculture with a view to moving towards the irregularisation of stands. It will allow landowners to take ownership of the guiding objectives of stand marking, and consequently to undertake diverse and reasoned felling choices. Landowners will then have the opportunity to visualise the results and consequences of their felling through simple, explained indicators.

The training will also highlight the good practices to adopt for silvicultural work in natural regeneration.
