We'll be exploring the Jura and Bernese plateaux, as well as the Valais region.<br>In 2004, we visited part of the Swiss Jura, in particular the Couvet forest and the Creux du Van. This year, we'll be discovering other facets of Switzerland: as well as the production forests, we'll also be discovering other functions of the Swiss forest, in particular the forests used to protect against natural hazards (rockslides, rockfalls, avalanches) and the forests used to protect nature and the landscape. 1\/3 of Switzerland's surface area (41,200 km\u00b2) is covered by forest. 43 % are pure coniferous forests and 24 % are deciduous; the remainder are mixed forests.<br>We hope the programme below will inspire you to join us: silvicultural management in private forests, discovery of the forest management research centre, forest management specific to mountain areas and natural protection zones.<br>Switzerland is a mountainous country and the coach will not be able to reach all the resorts. So we'll be doing a lot of hiking, some of it at altitude. So only people in good physical condition will be able to take part in this trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Please note!
